Founded in 2009, Y&I Events is a woman & minority owned décor company located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We specialize in custom event draping, floral production, decor rentals, and furniture rentals. We are a full-service company that offers everything from styling, design, installations, setup, delivery, and tear down. From the moment you start your consultation to the last votive we pick up, rest assured that you can enjoy and be a "guest" at your own event.
YASMIN: owner, stylist, & draping expert
Named after her children’s initials, Yasmin is the owner and creative mind behind Y&I Events. Born in Somalia and residing in many US states before landing in Minnesota, Yasmin has an in-depth knowledge of ethnic and multi-cultural celebrations. Her background in finance, banking, retail, and manufacturing is the perfect foundation to guide clients through the design and décor process. Her keen eye for color coordination, décor aesthetics, and managing the large picture are a few traits she prides herself with. With 16 years and counting, Yasmin continues to provide a timeless level of design, unique décor inventory, and unparalleled execution of event installations.
From peacock-colored backdrops to golden accent votives, every décor item is selected with intent and no detail is overlooked. Each event is carefully curated to bring your vision to life. Rest assured that Yasmin and her team will create an ambiance with style and function.
ANNA: designer, production, & marketing
Anna met Yasmin while owning her own Wedding planning company. Now retired from wedding planning, she and Yasmin have partnered together to expand the
Y&I Events’ presence in the event industry. Specializing in East Asian, South Asian, and Indian weddings, she brings a vast knowledge of ethnic and cultural celebrations. Anna has a degree in architecture and worked as a mechanical engineer for many years. Her construction savviness and experience in the hospitality industry allows her to approach events with a sense of structure and customer service.
After years of producing and planning multi-day and multi-cultural events, her design and planning experience are an added asset to the Y&I team. She and Yasmin complement one another and continue to produce amazing events and custom décor pieces.
KA: floral designer
Ka specializes in floral design and décor. Her creativity can be seen throughout many of Y&I’s events. From large floral backdrop installations to selecting the final votive, she has an eye for putting together unique arrangements and décor designs. Her background in office management, advertising, product technician, and customer service are a great foundation for producing floral decor for special events. Her management and communication skills allow her to produce elegant floral creations while prioritizing the Client’s design desires. Additionally, Ka has a passion for food and cuisine. From mastering recipes and creating new dishes, this is just another side of her overall creativeness.
